Founded by Bruce and Sandy Wolf in 2000, the Pacific Arts Association (PAA) of Blaine, Washington is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in the community by offering concerts, events and a music festival and camp designed to educate, entertain and inspire participants and audiences.
PAA has an all-volunteer Board of Directors, along with local volunteers, who work year-round to organize, promote and fundraise for our annual Blaine Harbor Music Festival (BHMF). Approximately 3,000 people attend the festival each year.
In 2002, students attended the first music camp, then known as the Blaine Jazz Festival, and it has run annually since. Professional faculty members are hired to teach students during festival week, while artistic director Theodore DeCorso, graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, structures classes.
The PAA strives to make the festival available to all students, regardless of their financial situation. Many of our attending students receive scholarships funded by donations from the PAA supporters.
"Our faculty is world-class, but what is important to us is that we want to teach any young musician who has the desire and interest, regardless of where they may happen to be in terms of development and economic viability, so we go the extra mile to ensure that any kid who has that spark of interest can in fact attend the festival."
